Our Mission:
Here, we strive to make our students and staff independent and effective users of information by providing comprehensive support, instruction and materials.
Hours:
HCHS Media Center is open from 8:00 AM to 3:01 PM when school is in session.
Staff:
Christie Williams, Media Specialist
Resources:
Centrally located in the school, our facility houses approximately 7600 books, 1300 videotapes, and 30 internet accessible computers. It is a work in progress. Our book collection has been extensively weeded because of the age of the material. Staff and students are welcome to offer suggestions for the purchase of new books and materials.
Circulation:
Students may check out 2 items at one time and may keep these for 2 weeks.
Overdue fines are charged at 5 cents per school day, but not to exceed $5.00. Students must pay for lost books.
Any books checked out to a student are that student's responsibility. Students cannot check out books for other students.
Students will be sent overdue notices, periodically, to their 1st period teacher.
Students owing books from past school years will get notices at the beginning of the new school and will not be able to check out library materials until the overdue books are returned or paid for.
Reference books are reserved for library use only and may not be checked out.
Internet Access:
Students must have an Internet Use Policy signed by the student and parent on file in the media center before students can use the computers in the school for any task.
Students do not have to pay for printing that is school related. For personal items, the charge is 50 cents per page.
Media center computers are for research and class work.
Miscellaneous:
Students should conduct themselves so that there is a calm and pleasant atmosphere in the media center at all times.
Students are asked to sign in when they enter the center and should have their planners signed as their pass to the center.
