Course Description


The mission of Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) is to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community. To fulfill this mission, AFJROTC provides a rigorous academic curriculum combined with dynamic leadership opportunities and physical training program. We strive to strengthen character, instill discipline, and cultivate leadership by holding cadets accountable for their choices and actions.

Our program also aims to inspire interest in aerospace and introduce students to diverse career opportunities in both military and civilian aviation. All AFJROTC instructors are retired Air Force officers and noncommissioned officers with over 20 years of distinguished service and exceptional professional and academic credentials.

AFJROTC is a high school elective that satisfies the high school physical eduction requirements while preparing students for success in any future endeavor.

There is NO MILITARY OBLIGATION for participation in AFJROTC. 

 

Program Objectives


  1. Educate, train and equip high school cadets in citizenship through the teaching of life skills.
  2. Promote community service
  3. Instill a sense of responsibility
  4. Develop character, leadership, and self-discipline through education and instruction in air and space fundamentals and the Air Force’s core values of “Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence.
  5. Most importantly, AFJROTC is a “Cadet Led” program.

 

WEEKLY SCHEDULE


  • Monday – Academics
  • Tuesday – Physical Fitness (athletic attire; shirt, shorts, sweats and tennis shoes)
  • Wednesday – Uniform Day (ABUs/OCPs)
  • Thursday – Academics
  • Friday – Leadership/Warrior Day

 

EVENTS


AFJROTC is dedicated to enhancing leadership and serving the community. Several events are offered for cadets to participate in. These events include:

- ASVAB – Hamilton Co HS offers this exam to those interested in joining the military after high school.

- Parades: Cadets participate in several parades throughout the school year: Veteran’s Day parade and two locals Christmas parades

- Color Guards, Flag Detail and Honor Guard for home football games

- Graduation: Cadets present the Colors during graduation ceremony

- Cadet Leadership Course (CLC): Summer leadership program held at The Citadel in Charleston, SC.
