PERT Testing
HCHS students in Grades 9-12 may take the PERT Exam free of charge at HCHS. Students in Grade 8 may take the PERT Exam free of charge at HCHS only if the student is enrolled in Algebra 1-A or Algebra 1. All testing occurs in the Testing Lab (Room 418) unless otherwise specified.

Student Opportunities
Florida State University Upward Bound Math and Science Program
The Florida State University Upward Bound Math and Science Program is open to eligible 9th-12th grade students. This program is specifically offered to Hamilton and Suwannee County students. The program is designed to enhance the academic and personal skills of first generation/limited income high school students while preparing them for college admission, retention, and graduation.
Available Services including:
- Tutoring
- College Tours
- ACT/SAT Test Prep
- Mentorship
- Summer Program at FSU (6 week all-expenses paid program, including transportation, on FSU’s campus)

Florida International University STAND Program
The STAND Program at Florida International University (FIU), with the help of some community mental health agency partners, continues offering telehealth services for middle and high school students with attention, organization, time management and academic motivation difficulties through research.
Who: Middle and High School students with academic difficulties
What: A ten-session, once a week, family therapy intervention targeting organization, time management, and planning skills. The program also includes parent coaching in age-appropriate academic support behaviors. Services are available in English or Spanish.
Cost: Research activities via FIU staff are free. Interventions via community mental health agency clinicians are either fee-based, or free, depending on eligibility criteria and insurance coverage.
Where: Services are currently available via video-call/telehealth.
When: Enrollment is ongoing until research study positions fill. Sessions are typically after school or in the evening.

Health Care Summer Institute 2024
University of Florida’s American Medical Student Association is inviting you and other students from the state of Florida to join them at their annual Health Careers Convention on Saturday, April 6th, 2024 from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. You will have the opportunity to learn more about different health professions and the University of Florida. There will also be opportunities to connect with admissions counselors, learn more about UF’s undergraduate programs, and tour the university.

Laptops 4 Learning
30 laptops for graduating seniors heading to college on a monthly basis.
To be eligible, laptop recipients must:
1. Have a family income of $50,000 or less. Income is self reported by applicant.
2. Demonstrate proof of enrollment at a college or university OR have a college acceptance letter.
3. Provide one of the following explaining why a laptop will help them further their education.
a) Upload a 90 second video explaining why they should be selected
b) Upload a 90 second audio file explaining why they should be selected
c) Write an essay of 500 words or less explaining why they should be selected
Recipients are awarded and shipped a laptop upon completion of the requirements above. Laptops are drop shipped to the awardees place of residence.
