HCHS students held their own in the regional art show at the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts in Valdosta, Georgia. This year, the Turner Center hosted the Youth Art Month exhibition from February 28 – March 23. We are so proud of our students’ excellent performances and hard work. The show allows each teacher to enter 12 total artworks, two works per student. This year artworks were selected from Amanda Lacefield, Adelina Ponce, Brittany Whitmore, Kaley Doolittle, Gabrielle Williams, Hannah Myers, Christian Whitmore, and Joseph Zipperer. All students showed exceptional work, and Amanda Lacefield took home second place overall in the competition. Select the Students page to see more contestant entries.

“Bus Ride is a self-portrait that I did in the style of egg tempera, but with my own twist. This painting was a photo I took 2 years ago on the bus when I was in a time of my life where I was really reflecting on my families and my own actions. This painting was difficult for me, it made me realize that everything doesn’t have to be perfect; I don’t have to be flawless and neither does my paintings.”
